#6,258,394    Method of delivering a beverage

Abstract

A cover is hermetically sealed to the lip of a container. A stirring shaft extends between a bottom end disposed in the container and a top end disposed outside of and above the cover. The container includes a shaft support for supporting and radially centering the bottom end of the stirring shaft. A sanitary seal hermetically seals the cover about the stirring shaft. A plurality of mixing blades extending radially from the shaft in the container. The top end of the shaft includes a driving connection or coupling for receiving a rotating device for rotating the stirring shaft and the mixing blades for mixing the contents of the container. The bottom of the container includes an annular leg for supporting the bottom above the central portion of a cover and over the top end of a stirring shaft of a like container assembly. To facilitate the stacking, the cover includes a circular ridge for receiving and centering the leg of a like container assembly. The container with frozen contents is dispensed from a machine and engaged by a rotates device to rotate the blades to mix the contents, such as a milkshake.

#6,144,022    Rain sensor using statistical analysis

Abstract

A method and an assembly for sensing moisture on the exterior surface of a sheet of glass by positioning an imaging lens adjacent to the interior surface of the sheet of glass, passing light rays from moisture on the exterior surface of the sheet of glass through the imaging lens and producing first and second successive images of the moisture on the glass, and successively directing the first and second images from the lens onto a focal plane detector. The focal plane detector is divided into rows of pixels which are ligned into columns. The assembly and method are characterized by scanning the pixels of each row in a first scan  and producing a reference value X for each pixel  in response to an initial image in that pixel, scanning the pixels of each row in a second scan and producing a subsequent value Y different from the reference value in response to an subsequent image in that pixel. A correlation coefficient value r is developed for each row with a statistical formula from the reference and subsequent values to produce a wiper signal in response to the correlation coefficient value r deviating from a predetermined value. An additional condition to the wiper signal could be that the correlation coefficient values r differ from row to row.

#RE36,574    Video game

Abstract

A local video game including a communicating controller. The controller receives local command signals created by a set of player controls. The controller also receives remote command signals received through a modem which were created by a remote video game through a similar set of player controls. The controller includes a synchronizer which produces synchronizing codes to be sent to the remote video game to synchronize the games. The synchronizer synchronizes the local and remote command signals such that both are received by a game microprocessor simultaneously. Memory stores the player parameters and are retrieved whenever the synchronization codes of the local and remote video games have not matched for a predetermined number of iterations.

#5,543,797     Supervised personnel monitoring system

Abstract

The monitoring assembly monitors the location of mobile objects, i.e., personnel, within a structure. The object carries a transponder which periodically transmits status signals and receives command signals. Transceivers are fixed at locations about the structure for receiving the status signal producing the location signals, and transmitting commands to the transponders. The transmissions and reception occur during prescribed time windows. A central controller is connected to each transceiver and monitors the location of transponders and communication therethrough. The transponders have audio capability of producing audio messages directly to the person thereof, especially during emergency conditions for assistance. The controller transmits synchronizing signals to the transceivers, which in turn synchronize themselves and transmit the synchronizing signal to the transponders for synchronizing.

#5,311,185     Supervised personnel monitoring system

Abstract

The monitoring assembly monitors the location of mobile objects, i.e., personnel, within a structure. The object carries a transponder which periodically transmits status signals and receives command signals relating to audio control. Transceivers are fixed at locations about the structure for receiving the status signal producing the location signals, and transmitting commands to the transponders. The transmissions and reception occur during prescribed time windows. A controller is connected to each transceiver and monitors the location of transponders and communication therethrough. The transponders  have audio capability of producing audio messages directly to the person thereof.

#5,292,125     Apparatus and method for electrically connecting remotely located video games

Abstract

A video game communicator is electrically connected between the ports of a local video game  and one set of player controls of the local video game. The video game communicator receives command signals from the player controls and sends them to the local video game. The video game communicator also converts the command signals into communication signals to be sent over telephone lines to be received by another video game communicator connected to a remote video game. A transit time circuit delays all command signals coming from the player controls to the local video game an amount of time it determines to be the time needed for the command signals to be sent to the remote video game. The video game communicator receives communication signals over the telephone lines and converts these signals into command signals representing the command signals of the remotely located competitor. A voice over data circuit allows both communications signals and voice signals to be sent over the telephone lines at the same time. An operator circuit allows either player to send operation signals, i.e., pause, start, stop, to each video game regardless of location of the player.

#5,144,231     Eddy current detector for detecting an object with offset compensation

Abstract

An RF oscillator induces eddy currents to be measured in an object. An eddy current probe senses alterations, such as teeth on a disc, for example, in the object which are represented as eddy current signals sensed by an eddy current probe. The present invention separates alteration current signals from offset currents in the eddy current signal to aid in discriminating levels in the alteration current signals. The alteration currents are separated from the offset currents by AC coupling with a high pass filter or separated by a microprocessor as part of a data processing detection routine.

#4,779,090     Electronic security system with two-way communication between lock and key

Abstract

An electronic security system having a locked and at least one unlocked state and comprising at least one electronic access controller and at least one electronic key. The electronic security system employs a predetermined, distinctive, first code stored in memories in each access controller and key, and each electronic key stores a predetermined second code consisting of a number part and an associated time delay part. The number parts of all second codes are also stored in the access controller memory.
